On a rainy Saturday morning during the summer of 2023, EW Douglas glanced toward the corner nightstand. Accumulated over millions of miles hauling steel across Northern New England, a stack of ideas for novels or screenplays sat in a disheveled pile, their plot arcs and scene notes scribbled on scrap paper. A weekend of foul weather gave rise to an obsession. 

Nature's splendor, scenic vistas witnessed thousands of times, and a passion for the nighttime sky spark imagination to create settings throughout the story narratives. Though a lifetime fan of espionage thrillers and post-apocalyptic epics in print, heart-wrenching film sequences have always instilled a deep, long-lasting impression.

The tranquility of late evening lends inspiration to write the author’s favorite passages, those poignant moments between a young woman and a lover she’s afraid of losing, or the bonds that tie a mother and daughter, sisters, or best friends as eternal soulmates.
